Experimental TV type: Regausser Project

TV manufacturers use degaussing processes to removing unwanted magnetic interference from television sets so the picture is not distorted. Doug Stewart has done the opposite with his Regausser project and has applied a magnet to a TV set in order to manipulate the shape of screen type.

"Magnetic damage is controlled creatively when strong magnetic fields are applied to television sets in different positions.

The positioning of the magnets holding prints [of the screen work] are representative of their individual positions on the television set itself.”
