Neon “t” for Tumblr
I spotted this simple, flickering, neon animated gif on Tumblr earlier (I’m as attracted as a moth to good neon letters). I noticed that it had gathered close to a whopping 100,000 likes and reblogs [now over 200,000!]. It’s attributed to vicforprez from California, who specialises in making these animated files.
The Ampersand in ‘You & I’
This mind blowing fiber glass sculpture is by Los Angeles based artist, Steven Harrington. It’s huge, standing at 120 x 120 x 70 cm
As the centerpiece to his exhibition “You & I” it has been constructed to create an instant connection between you, the sculpture and the artist.
I love how the eyes float in the top ampersand counter. I suspect this is done with a pane of glass or perspex on which they are attached.
An edition of 25 smaller sculptures were created by the production team Toykyo in Belgium. They were handmade from white glazed porcelain and packaged in wooden boxes screen printed with You & I motifs. They looked fabulous, though all sold out unfortunately.
