I spotted this simple, flickering, neon animated gif on Tumblr earlier (I’m as attracted as a moth to good neon letters). I noticed that it had gathered close to a whopping 100,000 likes and reblogs [now over 200,000!]. Double O Joy, Greg Lamarche
Paper collage 10x10 inches
Brookly based street artist, Greg Lamarche was primarily ‘bombing’ on others’ pieces in the 1980s but is now renowned for his collage artworks, cutting type from ’50s and ’60s magazines. You can clearly see the influence of graffiti writing on the work, I love the vivid colours and bold compositions.
“Graffiti made me look at letters and think about them in a totally different way. Color, composition, movement, layering and repetition all play huge parts to developing letters and the creative possibilities are endless. Although I am a purist when it comes to graff I also want to evolve and take those ideas further primarily working with paper collage”. Ghettoblaster
